Donkey-speak

“Hi, folks! I’m Dinky,” Dinky the donkey called to everyone who came past his big green field, but no one was interested and that made Dinky very sad.

MEMO 2020

Unfortunately, this blog is not functioning properly so I will have to start an new one for the Ossie stories. Go HERE to read the stories!

It's a long time since I wrote stories for my grandson, Simon, and now he has a little sister, Helena, so I'd better start writing again!

The first new story is one I invented on Skype (our first chatwas today) to tell Simon, and I'm repeating it here to read again. I hope to write more stories about the characters (animals and human) that I have just invented.

The world is a strange place, but in a child's mind it is as valid for animals to talk as it is for humans. Animals converse with one another, after all (think of swarms of bees and flocks of birds). Nonsense is not silly, it is sometimes wisdom coupled with whimsy. There may also be a song or two in the offing. I can hear one now!

Memo

I'm writing these stories for my grandson. I hope his Daddy will read them to him as soon as my grandson is able to understand them. They are not written in childish language and they do place responsibility on whoever reads them. Adaptations to names can of course be made. Charlie is the son of a cousin of mine. He is about three now and is charming and beautiful, with a wonderful smile and jet black, curly hair. My cute little grandson has blue-grey eyes and fair, curly hair. For reasons of privacy I am not showing photos of these children. I hope to illustrate some of the stories, but I haven't worked up enough courage yet. I will add to the stories as I write them. I am editing and doing some rewriting and will post changes and corrections as I make them.
